Sri Sathguru Sangeetha Vidyalayam College of Music organised a demonstration session by Sangeetha Vidwan Sri R.K.Sreeramkumar on 05-01-2016 at Siva Samban Hall.
Sri R.K.S's Demonstration class was much invaluable conveying so much of information regarding the various effective exercises to be carried out by the students, how to analyse a raga, how to acquire good paatantharam etc.
Tyagaraja Aradhana is the annual aradhana of saint composer Tyagaraja. Carnatic musicians from all over the world pay homage to the saint every year on Pushya Bahula Panchami day commemorating the Samadhi of the great composer. Vidyalayam also pays homage to the great saint by rendering. 'pancha ratnam' as a group in our Concert auditorium every year on Pushya bahula panchami day. This year 167th Aradhanai was held on 28/01/2016.
The workshop was conducted by Dr.V.A.Vidya(Director, C.M.Centre, Madurai). This was one of it"s kind which dealt exclusively about the topic "Exploring connected histories in music and cultural paradoxes". Around 25 research scholars participated and benefited from the workshop. The event was a grand success and the certificates were issued by Dr.R.Aruna, Principal of Sri Sathguru Sangeetha Vidyalayam.
A STATE LEVEL WORKSHOP on 'MUSIC METHODOLOGY AND FIELD WORK STUDY' was conducted at Sri Sathguru Sangeetha Vidyalayam College of Music and Research Centre for Music on 12/12/2015.
Veteran Musician and Musicologist Dr.N.Ramanathan, Retd. Professor and Head of The Dept, Madras University conducted the workshop very effectively. Around 30 research scholars including scholars from the hosting institution as well as from other universities in Tamilnadu State participated and enjoyed the workshop session.

A National Level workshop on 'Tiruppugazh' was held on 11th September at Sri Sathguru Sangeetha Vidyalayam college and research centre, Madurai. The workshop was begun with the lamp lighting ceremony by the chief guest Tiruppugazh Maamani Smt. T.V. Sundaravalli, Honourable Secretary Sri. S.Venkatanarayanan, Principal Dr. R.Aruna, Dr. K.N. Renganatha Sharma and Dr. V.Bala which was followed by a prayer by Mr. P.Avanthraj. Principal Dr. R.Aruna welcomed the chief guest Smt. T.V. Sundaravalli, Secretary Sri.S.Venkatanarayanan and all the participants from various institutions like Avinasilingam college, Kalaikaveri college, Tamilnadu Govt Music college, Pasumalai, and Tevara Isai palli, Madurai and Sri Sathguru Sangeetha Vidyalayam. After the inaugural address of the Secretary Sri.Venkatanarayanan, Dr. Bharati Mahadevan introduced the chief guest with few words about her.
Smt. T.V.Sundaravalli started the morning session with a Tiruppugazh on lord Ganesa 'Umbartharu' in the raga Hamsadhvani and taught seven Tiruppugazhs in different ragas. She concluded the morning session at 1.00 pm. The afternoon session begun at 2.00 pm and went up to 4.00 pm. Fifteen Tiruppugazhs were taught by her on the day.
All the participants were given certificates by the chief guest Smt. T.V.Sundaravalli. Dr V.Vijayalakshmi delivered Vote of thanks.
The Tiruppukazh Workshop was very well coordinated by Dr.N.Barathi and Dr.K.Rukmani. PPT presentation of the whole session was very effective and Useful.
